30 HOUR FAQs
See below for some FAQs:
Can I apply for 15 hours?
The nursery admissions policy states that after places have been allocated for 30 hours provision based on the categories detailed in the policy, where there are remaining places available, governors reserve the right to allocate a limited number of places to children for 15 hours.
If I do not qualify for 30 hours funding, can I pay for the additional hours?
In line with the policy, parents and carers may choose to pay for additional 15 hours if they are not eligible for fully funded 30 hours provision. The additional hours will be charged according to the charges detailed in the nursery admissions policy.
How are category 4 places allocated?
All category 4 places will be allocated based on home-school distance, irrespective of whether the 30 hours are fully funded or whether a family pays for the additional 15 hours.
What happens if I am no longer eligible for 30 hours fully funded provision?
If a family is no longer eligible for 30 hours fully funded provision, a 15 hours place will remain open for the child. The family can also choose to pay for the additional 15 hours if they would like to continue to attend the nursery full-time.
Is the provision term-time only?
Yes, the provision is term-time only for a minimum of 38 weeks each academic year. St Andrew’s operates a one term entry with all pupils starting in the September before their fourth birthday.
Wrap around provision will be available during some school holidays and can be arranged directly through Play Aloud.
If I am paying for the additional hours, how will payments be taken?
Once places have been offered and confirmed, payment information will be shared with parents and carers.
Funding
In September 2025, 15 hours for working families will expand to 30 hours, meaning eligible working families will be able to claim 30 hours of childcare. Parents can check their eligibility for 30 hours through the childcare calculator and apply for this through the childcare service.
