Farm to Fork
To launch our topic 'Farm to Fork', we visited the grocery shop in Hitchin. We bought lots of different seasonal and local produce from the grocer, and learnt why some fruits were not available to buy. We practised lots of different learning skills during our visit, including reading, counting, measuring and learning about seasonal produce.
Back in the classroom, we have been just as busy! We have described and created simple maps of our journeys, used different tools to prepare the food and even tasted some of them! We have learnt the names of lots of new vegetables, including courgette and butternut squash, and have been creating observational drawings of these as well as selling them in our very own farm shop.
Thank you to all of our parent helpers for keeping us safe on our walk into Hitchin.
