WELCOME TO OUR NURSERY

Our Early Years Ethos

At St Andrew’s, we believe that early childhood is the foundation for lifelong learning. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our philosophy centres on nurturing each child’s natural curiosity while fostering key skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, resilience, and critical thinking.

We are committed to supporting the development of the whole child—emotionally, socially, physically, and cognitively. We see children as capable, competent learners, full of potential. Our learning environment is stimulating and hands-on, designed to encourage exploration, self-expression and confidence through meaningful, real-world experiences. Skilled practitioners support this journey by observing, listening and thoughtfully extending each child’s thinking.

Our thoughtfully curated spaces—including the Atelier, dedicated to creative exploration, and the Piazza, designed for group interaction—support both independent and collaborative learning. We view the environment as the 'third teacher' and use careful documentation in children's individual Learning Journals to reflect, celebrate and make visible each child’s learning journey.

We deeply value working in partnership with parents and carers, recognising them as the child’s first and most important educators. Through open communication and shared understanding, we work together to ensure each child feels secure, supported and empowered to reach their full potential.

At St Andrew’s, we strive to create a calm, welcoming setting where children form strong relationships, develop essential life skills, and grow into confident, curious learners—ready for the next stage of their education.
